From Cinematic Shots to Espresso Shots: Here's Our Story.
Urban Owl Coffee was started by three friends working in the film industry and facing a dilemma. First off, we wanted to experience better, fresher coffee everyday. And secondly, we were needing a career change. Turns out roasting specialty coffee beans filled both those needs. Within a short time we were roasting and drinking our own espresso blend just the way we liked it. Our friends loved our coffee too and started asking for more.
Around this time we heard about Flaco, the famous New York City owl who escaped the zoo and lived his best owl life in Central Park. He quickly adapted to his changed circumstances and became a symbol of freedom and resilience for us and many others. The original Urban Owl!

We’re not going to sit here and tell you coffee is a source of joy, that it’s a catalyst for connection, and a journey of flavor. You’ve heard all that and you already know it. That’s why you’re here. That’s why we’re here! But it’s more than that, isn’t it?

Why Urban Owl Coffee?
Because hawks are too mainstream and pigeons are, well...pigeons.
But seriously, roasted coffee, even our high quality specialty coffee, has a short window of uber freshness. A month passes and it starts to lose peak flavor.
That’s why we don't stockpile coffee. Typically we roast once a week and ship within a couple days of roasting, so you retain full control on how you manage your freshness window.
Or you can keep the window open by taking advantage of our subscription service. Same roast, always fresh, straight to your door.

Our beans are born and harvested from the best coffee regions in the world. We now have two locations, one in western Connecticut and the other in California's Central Valley. By roasting and shipping every week we've got your caffeine needs covered coast to coast.
Positively Sustainable
We don’t believe coffee should enrich some and impoverish others. That’s why we’re constantly seeking out sustainable and ethically sourced beans. We work with partners to have a positive impact on the communities of the farmers growing the coffees we purchase.
