Light Roast
Behold, the beige savior of coffee snobs everywhere. Its light brown hue and complete lack of oil scream, “I’m delicate and superior!” With a roast so gentle it practically whispers, preserving every last shred of the bean’s “original characteristics”. Expect “bright and crisp” acidity, with floral and fruity notes that sound like a fancy spa but taste like the joy-tears of a third-wave barista.
Tasting Notes: Citrus, berries, and honey, wrapped up in a body so clean it could teach yoga classes to green tea.
Ideal Brewing: Pour-over, drip coffee (but only if it’s artisanal), or the mighty Chemex.
Medium Roast
Ah, the Goldilocks of coffee roasts: not too light, not too dark, where flavor meets versatility in a rich, chestnut package and a profile as smooth as your favorite excuse for being late. This dry bean brings the best of both worlds: Brightness AND Depth. It’s the harmony you didn’t know your morning needed.
Tasting Notes: Think chocolate, nuts, and caramel wrapped up in a well-rounded body... the coffee equivalent of a warm hug from someone who knows your coffee order by heart.
Ideal Brewing: Versatile for all methods. French press, pour-over, espresso or even cowboy campfire pot.
Dependable, delicious, and down for whatever.
Dark Roast
Dark, brooding, and unapologetically bold. Batman? Uh... Dark roast coffee beans! We stop the roast just before ours break a sweat (or, you know, get oily), resulting in a powerhouse brew with less acidity and just enough origin character to keep the coffee hipsters arguing about terroir for hours. Great for espresso-based drinks. Cortados, cappuccinos, and lattes, oh my!
Tasting Notes: Dark chocolate (the “I’m 88% cacao, deal with it” kind), toasted nuts, and a hint of spice to keep things mysterious. Full body that will hit you like a caffeinated bear hug.
Ideal Brewing: Espresso (because intensity loves company) French Press, or Cold Brew.

Why Urban Owl Coffee?

But, seriously, roasted coffee, even our high grade specialty coffee, has a short window of uber freshness. A month passes and it starts to lose peak flavor.
That’s why we don't stockpile roasted coffee. We typically roast and ship within a few days, so you retain full control on how you manage your freshness window.
